HOW I KNOW A CHRISTIAN

I decided to save this here, because some of us are usually not able to discern who a true believer is. A lot of folks ignorantly despise and reject others when they are not able to meet some community standards for Christianity. So there’s the community standard and there’s the Bible standard.

The Bible standard says “Don’t judge“. Community standard say “well? By putting one or two intentions of a person together, you can be able to know a Christian”. This might be true but not the truth.

The Bible teaches us to estimate everything in accordance with what the Scripture say. People might be saying “Oh, he’s rude and wicked. He’s not a good man”, if you follow what people say you might miss it.

What does the Scripture say about that person? Yeah, that should be your interest… Not what some people think. The Bible standard says in 2 Corinthians 5:16 “Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh:..”. I’m not saying you shouldn’t despise evil. Of course you should! Some will come in sheep clothing but within those clothes are wolves. You need the Spirit of discernment to differentiate between what is true and the Truth.

A Christian in fact is one who is able to know what God is saying per time by walking in Obedience to it. So many people know what God is saying but not all walks in Obedience. You can test the maturity of a Man by how much he’s yielding to the demands of the Kingdom.

In the test of growth in the kingdom, the litmus paper for testing maturity is not anointing but Authority. Many of us are quickly swept away by the display of the anointing. And we’re too quick to conclude. However, the man who’s recognized in Heaven is that man who has totally yielded himself to God. It is these kind of Men that God unctions the scepter of authority. This is why we know no man after the flesh but by the Spirit. No one can know the things inscripted in the heart of a man but by the Spirit.

Knowing a true Christian requires;

  • The spirit of discernment which can only be accessed through constant studying of the word.
  • Prayer: This is even more important than every other things I might have mentioned here. The Bible encourages us to pray for our enemy. So incase you see that Young man in your neighborhood who’s always on your nerve. Instead of judging, pray!

I will stop here, so I can get your own contributions below in the comment box. So What do you think? How do you know a true Christian?
