In our last post, we all learnt that our thought is a total demonstration of who we are! You think dirty, you’re dirty. You think good; you’re good and this was confirmed to us through the book of proverbs and Psalms. We also learnt that the most effectual way to keep our heart healthy is to stay broken before before God! Well, we aren’t answered the question yet; ear or heart which should we follow and this why we will consider the ear-ly part of that topic so we see where we’re headed!
FOLLOWING THE EARS…
The ear – is a necessary part our body and I don’t think there’s anyone who’s ever got something done without a proper hearing system. Do you ever wonder what you could have been without an ear? Lol! I can’t even imagine! We all will look terrible without those tiny instruments of wonder. Oh! How sad for those who are deaf, may the good Lord give them a new ear! If you know one who’s deaf today! Take a step of faith and pray for them!
Well — the ear we’ve come to talk about now is not the ear of the body but the ear of your spirit man just like your heart! I know you don’t believe me, but your spirit have a sense organ. Your spirit is got an eye, a heart, a mouth, an ear and a nose (literally I mean, but they have got it all the same). Those are your perception and Sight in the Spirit. To cut the long sermon short, God speaks to us through the sensory parts of our Spirit and the most common is the ear and the heart (which most people find very difficult to understand). I’m talking about hearing the audible voice of the Spirit of God talking to you through your ears. I know that’s quite rare but nonetheless God does speak audibly just like in the days of Moses, yes He does! You can hear him like you hear your friend! Nevertheless…
EAR OR HEART — WHICH SHOULD WE FOLLOW?
Now I’m ready to answer that question! Jeff is in need of an answer from God; He prayed and suddenly He began to receive impulses in his heart that tells him that this, is the answer. Right off the bat, he’s still hearing some voices in his ear which he believes is the voice of God saying a whole different thing from the impression on his heart? Did God suddenly develop two different sound system? If no – Which of them is right and which is wrong?
Somebody would say – no, the ear is right! Follow the ear! Another would cry – oh no, the heart is true! Follow the heart! At this point Jeff is confused. He’s lost! He needs divine direction else he’d never be able to solve that problem. Jeff understands that both the ear and the heart are God’s medium of communication but right now it’s a different experience. What does Jeff do?
WHAT DOES JEFF DO?
Oh my reader, what does our precious Jeff do to get off this hectic situation! He’s been hearing different voices in his ear and heart for the past three weeks. He’s totally messed up! Well, someone says; Jeff should pray more. But Jeff has never stopped praying! Jeff is on a 14hour marathon prayer everyday. He needs an immediate response to his need. But his got his heart telling him entirely different thing from his ear. Well, someone says; Jeff should see his pastor or some friends like him. But he’s already seen them and yet there’s no suitable answer to his dilemma. You remember the story of Job? His three friends throwing words of comfort, yet Job wasn’t encouraged in anyway. Same goes for Jeff right now.
So what encourage Job in the Bible despite the different things his friends were telling him coupled with that of his heart? God’s Word! Job needed an answer and guess where he found it — in the Word of God!
Job 38:1 “Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said”
Well, we may not have a whirlwind at our disposal. But God answers us through His word — the Bible! Nothing else! Jeff’s got to pick up his Bible and study through them to know the proper will of God! The word of God is the answer to all our problems. This will save you alot of stress! Right now you may be hearing two different voices, what do you do? Get to know what the Word of God is saying concerning that matter. Get your Bible folks. I don’t know where you’ve kept them, in the kitchen? In the bathroom? Or cupboard? That’s not where they should be! Get up and study the Scripture! You’ll get to discern the voice of God faster the moment you begin to study through the Scripture! It’s difficult for Jeff to discern which is the voice of God because he’s not got the Word of God in him! God’s not far-fetched! He’s closer to us than the ground we’re standing on! His word is sure and Amen! It’s the totality of whom He’s! He can’t even do anything outside his word! You can hold Him by HIS WORD FOLKS!
Late last year, I attended a worship service in the area where I did school and fortunately it was an amazing service. The ministers were amazing and — something did happen right there! I began to hear a very audible voice in my head. Very audible! I didn’t realize it was the voice of a familiar spirit (well, now I know, but then I didn’t know). What the voice was saying seemed true ; so true not to be true. The service was still going on and by now I had already lost interest because I was trying to understand what I was hearing. My heart was saying an entirely different thing. For some moment I felt like I had to do some research in the Bible, but what I was hearing looked so true to even contemplate about giving it a research but something deep made me want to still confirm. So, like Jeff ; I too needed answer! I left the program! That’s how bad it was! I desperately needed answer. I was totally confused! Some of my very good friends had asked me; why are you leaving so early? But I just gave them a satisfying reply with a feign smile. Well, I wasn’t happy leaving but the trauma going on within me just drove me crazy! The next day I threw the question on everyone yet their reply wasn’t satisfying. I just got sick n’ tired. So I went home! Somedays later while I studied the Bible. The Spirit of God directed me to some pages in the Bible and in a minute my head was clear! I was no longer in doubt! I got my answers. Zoom! Just like that!
The word of God is the answer to all our challenges! Even God asks us to hold him by His word! He – God is accountable to His word! He wants us to trust him by His word and not what some people say or think, not what some kdrama tell you about life but what the Word tells us about life. You can literally pick out a Word from the Scriptures and confess them over and over! Don’t stop saying it till it becomes your reality! The Lord says to Job; the World and everything in it was founded on the Word of God! Even the air you have got in your nostrils! How powerful is God’s word and yet we despise it over some temporal feelings and emotions. Does God speak to us through our heart and ear? Yes! He does, but which should we hear, the heart or the ear? The Word! not your ear. Even familiar spirits can talk to you through your ears! They can whisper in some very odd debris and expect you to swallow. This is simply why the Word asks us to test every Spirit and we do that by the word! Not human calculations! O’ wish we’ve got an extra time to cover this! But we’ll be stopping here. Well, I’d like to leave you with this! GET BACK TO STUDYING GOD’S WORD! THAT’S THE ONLY WAY TO HEAR GOD’S VOICE ACCURATELY!
