Ear or heart – Which should you follow?

This is quite a taskful topic to talk on but I’m hoping it will have a lifelong effect on many so I’m going to be very conscious with what I put out here so you don’t get the opposite. A Young man must have met us some day demanding an answer to a question as perturbing as this one. Ear or heart – Which should I follow? Well, I’ll tell ya!

FOLLOWING YOUR HEART

The Bible says;

Pro 23:7 “For as he(man) thinketh in his heart, so he is…”

Mat 12:34 “… For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh”

There’s no man that can speak good when his/her heart is full of evil, likewise, there is no man that can speak bad when the state of his heart is pure. You know what makes this interesting is the book of Proverbs 23:7 For as a man thinketh in his heart so is he! Isn’t that amazing? We’re what we constantly think! What we do is a result of what we are inwards. That’s why the devil attacks the heart and not your head or leg but your heart. If the state of your heart is compromised, you’d remain stunted for the rest of your life! What this simply means is that you can’t grow beyond the state of your heart! What you think is what you are (not become) the Bible didn’t say what we think is what we become (because becoming something in itself takes a process) but the Bible said as he thinketh, SO HE IS! — he is, that’s the word people! You’re what you think, you don’t even have to try becoming because that’s what you’re. I think you now see how vulnerable we’re if we allow thoughts that doesn’t align with the heart of God! When a man goes on thinking low and low, you know what he is? A low man! When a person starts thinking sin, sin and sin, you know what he is? A sinner. That’s why Jesus said, if you look at a woman lustfuly in your heart, you’ve already committed sin by so doing! Hence, a sinner! You don’t even have to try so hard to know what you’re, just focus on the state of your heart and you can see what you’re!

So many people today claim what they are not! They say they are Christians but their heart thinks the opposite. They say they’re big time relevant individuals but their heart thinks the OPPOSITE! O’ dear, I wish you got that! Stop trying to be what your heart isn’t! Focus on your heart and not your head! Focus on your heart and keep it right! How?

Psa 34:18 “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”

The Psalmist David cries out in Psalm 26:2, for God to examine his heart daily! I believe we need to make that prayer daily for our heart. There are so many things lingering in the hearts of many, the Bible confirms that by saying the heart of a man is desperately wicked, so there’s no need trying to make the heart good… We can’t even make the heart good! Only God can make our heart become as his, only then would we become like Jesus is. Only then can we BE , just as Jesus IS! The Lord is nigh only to them that are of a broken heart and saveth such as BE of a contrite spirit! The true heart that Jesus indwells is the BROKEN HEART, not broken emotions but broken heart (asin your spirit man to be meek before God). Is your heart broken before God? Yes – you cried during worship yesterday but that’s not all there’s to a broken heart. A broken heart is the kind of heart that submit and acknowledges the presence of Jesus daily. Just like David who remained broken before God till the day of his death. The Lord calls him a man after His own heart, because of his meekness in the presence of God. To be broken is to fear God! To be broken is to reverence His truth and obey them always!

We all need to keep our heart broken before him if we must BE just as He IS! the desire of God is that we be like Him, look like Him, and act like Him. There’s nothing more blissful than that; but this will require our heart to be right before Him!
