Yes! You didn’t read the heading through your nose. 14,700 Isrealities died in one day because of the sin called “Murmur”.
Num 16:41 "But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the LORD."
Korah, in opposition to the word and calling of Moses led the people to protest (definitely not everyone but a good number of famous princes atleast 250 of them fell for his temporary cravings). They biased the priesthood office and hauled the people into believing a fake propaganda that was only aimed at feeding their pride (See Num 16:3). The Bible said that when Moses heard this, his countenance was altered. To cut the short-story-short; The Lord confirmed the words of his servant Moses by consuming all the families of Korah and the 250 Men who had pledged their allegiance to His wicked initiative.
Well, this sent a great fear among the people. We must have known by now that the Isrealities had one disease and that is “distrust and lust”. Nothing ever satisfied them. Even after heaven fed them with manna they still lusted after quail. God divided the red sea, rained down plagues on the Egyptians for their sake, manufactured water from the rock when they thirsted, and promised to bring them to Canaan land (the land of promise) yet they remained ingrates. They never trusted God for a moment. They murmured all through their journey with Moses. So it wasn’t new to Moses when all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron saying, Ye have killed the people of the Lord. They just saw God destroy Korah and his men last night, the next morning they were all murmuring again (Num 16:41). Seems to me like they loved to Murmur! Lol. And in that same hour, the Lord sent a plague among them that instantly claimed the life of 12,700 people.
You may have read this and said, well, this doesn’t apply to us because we’re in the dispensation of grace. You may seem right until you zoom the length of your lenses. I’m not saying that God will have to kill 14,700 Christians everyday for murmuring. But if you’ll just agree with me, you’ll realize that over 70% of the people in our society today complains everyday, murmurs every hour, and grumble every minute. You don’t yet get me? Murmuring is the enemies Weapon of defeat! I wish you’ll read that again. The devil will do everything to keep you complaining about everything. He’ll have you complain about the government, about the school, about your health, about your finance, about your tomorrow. As long as he keeps you complaining, he’s got you defeated. The only recorded event where God had to kill 14,700 people just like that without them engaging in any motal combat with an enemy or whatsoever is recorded here in Numbers 16:41. Now, that should tell you how injurious it is when we complain and Murmur. It bleeds the heart of God.
You’re simply calling God IMPOTENT when you Murmur and grumble over very matter. You’re simply telling God THAT HE CAN’T BE TRUSTED! O, that’s enough to bleed anyone’s heart.
Learn it today, devil is not only interested in making you fornicate, steal, fight or provoked. If you still complain and grumble over everything, then you’re under defeat. When circumstances poses itself in unseemly manner, Learn to approach them with the word of God and not your head! Stop bleeding God’s heart! He loves you today and forever.
I pray for you today, May God richly fill you with His word so you may know how to overcome every fiery darts of Satan! Receive the grace to grow in His word, in Jesus name!
